A. Assessment with Technology

Artifact 1
VBA Project

In the course Multimedia Design in the Classroom, my group created an interactive multimedia project that our students will use in the classroom. The project is geared toward students in second to fifth grade. Our multimedia PowerPoint includes topics that teach students about the importance of online safety. Our presentation addresses netiquette, cyber bullying, internet safety, and how to search the web. Each part includes a tutorial to describe each topic to the children and a quiz to assess each topic. Once students complete the quiz, results are collected and can be printed. Students that do not have a passing score can redo the any of the tutorials.

Due to the size of the micros enabled VBA project I was unable to upload it to the Wiki. The macros enabled presentation can be downloaded at http://studentpersonalpages.loyola.edu/2013/cmlassalle/www/portfolio/home.html.

Artifact 2
Plan for a Plan

In the Role of Technology Leader I developed a plan for a technology plan. After stakeholders and members have been established for the technology committee, I emphasized the importance of collecting data on where each stakeholder was in regards to technology by creating a survey on SurveyMonkey.com. The committee will be able to determine the range of stages (entry, adoption, adaption, appropriation, invention) the staff is as described by Apple Classrooms of Tomorrow study. The surveys would be the driving force in creating the technology plan, so aiming for 100 % participation would bring accurate results. The technology plan would go hand in hand with the school improvement plan to maximize learning.

B. Assessment of Technology

Artifact 1
Critical Literacy Project- Website Evaluation

I created a document called Be a Web Detective during the Digital Communication course for the critical information literacy lesson. The class would practice analyzing the reliability of three websites together by filling out this form. Then students work with a partner to check out websites that either support or disagree with longer recess. The students will analyze the trustworthiness of the website using the Be a Web Detective form. Information from approved websites will be used in a persuasive letter for more recess as the questionable sources will be considered when being persuasive. Students will better understand that not everything on the web is creditable and it is important to think critically when selecting resources.

Artifact 2
Project Participant- Monster Exchange Rubric/Checklist

This artifact is the plan to participate in a telecollaborative project from the Digital Communication course. Students in my classroom will be participating in the Monster Exchange Project at which students will develop a set of directions for their monster drawing in a word document and illustration of monster using Paint or KidPix. Students will be paired up to revise/edit their work for particular criteria using the Monster Exchange Set of Directions Checklist before posting it to the Monster Exchange Gallery. The published document will be graded using the rubric.
